Today, I want to teach you how to make no-sew drop cloth curtains!
Curtains were definitely needed in our farmhouse style living room so, of course, I had to search through Pinterest!
After a whole lot of searching, I found some drop cloth curtains that I could make myself.
Since I don’t sew, I had to find something that would be perfect for our room but also easy to make.
There was a great tutorial on Pinterest here.

Here are the items that you will need to make your own drop cloth curtains:
You can get all different sizes based on your window size and how far you want them to go to the floor.
Curtain Rings with Clips
Before we start with the tutorial, I want to point out that if you are going to use drop clothes for curtains you will need to air them out first because they tend to have a bad smell. 😬
We measured our windows on the window trim because I wanted to hang the curtains to the outside of the window.
If you want to hang them on the inside of the trim, you do not need the elbows or nipples.
Mine measured around 31 inches so we purchased the 30 inch pipes. They fit perfectly after adding the flanges and elbows.
We used 3/4 inch pipes, elbows and flanges but you can get smaller or bigger pipes depending on your style that you’re looking for.
The pipes definitely needed cleaned before painting because they had pricing stickers on them.
They were washed really good with soap and water, then cleaned with mineral spirits.
Now we are ready to paint the pipes.
I wanted black pipes but they were out of them at the store, so we bought galvanized pipes and spray painted them with hammered black paint.
They turned out really good but I wish they had the black pipes because they were cheaper.
Oh well, I need to learn patience but I really wanted to get these curtains hung!
The pipes were the most expensive thing to buy but they are still cheaper than the high dollar curtains that I priced!
Hanging the drop cloth curtains was pretty easy to do and I loved how they turned out. 😀
First, the flanges were screwed to the trim.
Then, we added the pipe nipples and elbows.
Only one side of the pipe was attached because we had to hang the curtain rings before we attached in the other side.
After that, we held the curtains up and folded them so we had the perfect length to the floor. Then, we clipped the curtains to the curtain rings.
The curtains needed a valance type of a fold, so I folded the top of the curtain under and clipped it again.
And that’s it!
Pretty easy and perfect if you want DIY no-sew curtains that you make yourself.
What do you think? Would you ever use drop cloths for your curtains?
